Chardstock Historical Record Group was formed in 2000 and is a small non-profit making organisation dedicated to collecting and recording information on the Parish and the surrounding area, including the present Parish of All Saints. Our primary intention is to record research material not readily available from other sources and to use our local knowledge of such things as place or family names to ensure a high degree of accuracy.
The Group generally meets on the second Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September and November.
All meetings are held in Chardstock’s village pub, The George Inn,
and start at 6.30 pm. If you are coming for the
first time (and you will be made very welcome), it is probably best to
e-mail us beforehand to confirm the date.
You can also meet members of the Group on our stand at Chardstock
Street Fayre, held each year on the first
Saturday in September, where we mount a display of copies of material
in our possession.
CHRG does
not run events or produce a newsletter, but anyone may join irrespective
of location and can be kept informed of new projects. Membership is free, and open to anyone interested
in the Group’s objectives - please
contact us for details.
