This page is designed to inform you of developments affecting the Web Museum. It was created in August, 2009 and the first major enhancements were introduced in July, 2010, as detailed below:
PARISH REGISTERS
St. Andrew’s
Church, Chardstock - The transcriptions of the Parish
Registers for baptisms, marriages and burials have been expanded to
cover the period from 1879 to 1911 and for marriages additional
information has been incorporated for the period 1837 to 1850. Our
next task is to update the information from 1754 to 1813, to include
witnesses, professions, and any other available detail.
All Saints Church - The transcriptions of the Parish Registers for baptisms, marriages and burials are now available from the opening of the church in 1840 until 1911.
Additional information - All additional information relating to births/baptisms, marriages and deaths/burials for people with a known Chardstock or All Saints connection are now grouped together under this heading.
PARISH POOR RATE - Expanded to include a separate transcription of the 1832 Chardstock Land Tax Assessment.
CHARDSTOCK ESTATE - Expanded to include additional information relating to Copyhold Agreements for the period 1858 to 1870.
MISCELLANY - The general Miscellany section has been expanded to include additional information relating to Chardstock/All Saints and a new separate section has been added for Trade Directories from 1851 to 1939.
PUBLICATIONS - We now have a DVD available, telling the story of how our Norman font, missing for many years, found its way back to Chardstock this year - please see our Publications page for further details.
Our next update is planned for May/June 2011,
when we hope to include details of the 1781 Chardstock Estate land
holdings, the 1840 Tithe
Apportionment and the 1858 Enclosure of the Common Lands.
