St. Andrew’s Church
Our transcriptions of baptisms, marriages and burials at St. Andrew’s Church have been made primarily from Parish Registers, but they incorporate additional information from Bishop’s Transcripts, where no other source material was available.
All Saints Church
All transcriptions for baptisms, marriages and burials at All Saints have been made by members of CHRG from the original registers held at Devon Records Office.
It is our intention to transcribe all baptisms, marriages and burials for Wambrook and post them on the website. The first transcriptions available below cover baptisms for the period 1813 to 1909.
All additional information relating to births/baptisms, marriages and deaths/burials for people with a known Chardstock, All Saints or Wambrook connection are now grouped together under this single heading. The source of the material is recorded against each entry.
The St. Andrew’s Church baptisms, marriages and burials have been proofread against the original Parish Registers and now contain a considerable amount of additional information plus a number of corrections. If you have Chardstock BMDs in your family history, it would be worth checking them against these fully revised transcripts.
Banns Registers, which were introduced in 1754 under Hardwicke’s Act, have been checked against the Chardstock Marriages Registers with additional information being added under the notes section of the transcripts. In cases of the Banns being read at Chardstock, but the marriage taking place elsewhere, or not at all, this information has been included under “ Additional information on Chardstock, All Saints & Wambrook marriages”.
